Services Available in Osaka
According to Vultr’s official blog post, the Osaka region (region code: itm) supports Vultr’s core cloud infrastructure lineup right from day one:
- Cloud Compute: Standard shared-CPU plans as well as High Frequency Intel and AMD EPYC instances;
- Optimized Cloud Compute: Dedicated vCPU instances built for production workloads;
- Vultr Kubernetes Engine (VKE): One-click managed container clusters;
- Block Storage & Snapshots: High-speed NVMe block storage volumes and automated backups.
In its announcement, Vultr noted that East Asia remains one of the highest-demand cloud markets worldwide. As the economic and network hub of Japan’s Kansai region, Osaka complements the existing Tokyo facility and helps Asia-Pacific users deploy low-latency workloads closer to end users.
Why the Osaka Region Matters
For users across East Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific region, Japanese data centers have long been a top choice thanks to short physical distances and low latency. Previously, however, every workload in Japan was concentrated in a single Tokyo facility—meaning peak-hour international bandwidth could get crowded, and users lacked an in-country secondary site during maintenance or route fluctuations.
The Osaka data center solves both issues practically:
- Offloading Tokyo congestion: When specific subnets in Tokyo are busy or entry-level plans are temporarily out of stock, users can deploy in Osaka instead while still getting fast domestic Japanese bandwidth and low regional latency;
- In-country disaster recovery: E-commerce stores, corporate sites, and APIs serving Japanese customers can run their primary node in Tokyo and keep a standby server or database replica in Osaka for low-cost dual-region redundancy.
