Cloud infrastructure provider Vultr announced on May 10 that its new cloud data center in Manchester, United Kingdom is officially open. This launch expands Vultr’s global footprint to 32 data center regions and serves as its second location in the UK, joining its London facility opened in 2018.

What’s Available in the Manchester Region

According to Vultr’s official announcement, the Manchester data center (region code: man) carries enterprise compliance certifications including ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and SOC 2 Type 2, and opens with full support for the following services:

  • Cloud Compute: Intel and AMD EPYC instances backed by pure SSD and NVMe storage;
  • Optimized Cloud Compute: Dedicated-resource instances designed for high-concurrency databases and e-commerce backends;
  • Bare Metal: Single-tenant physical servers connected directly to Vultr’s backbone network;
  • Kubernetes & Block Storage: Managed container orchestration and flexible block storage volumes.

In its announcement, Vultr noted that Manchester has grown into the UK’s fastest-expanding digital technology and commercial hub outside London. Adding a Manchester region provides lower latency for visitors across Northern England, Scotland, and Ireland while giving UK businesses an in-country secondary site for data residency and disaster recovery.

London vs. Manchester: Which Should You Pick?

For users running UK and European websites or cross-border e-commerce stores (such as TikTok Shop UK or Amazon UK tooling), Vultr now offers two UK regions:

  • Single-server websites: London remains the default first choice for most single-node projects thanks to its position as Europe’s primary subsea cable and internet exchange hub;
  • In-country redundancy and overflow: If your workload requires 24/7 UK uptime or if entry-level plans in London are temporarily out of stock, you can spin up an identical instance in Manchester for fast in-country failover and replication.
